Paws & Claws Pet Parade

The Maritime Festival’s “Paws & Claws Pet Parade” on July 11th was a great success. 58 people participated in the event with a wide variety of dogs, cats, two turtles, a parrot and a rabbit.

The pet show which preceded the parade was entertaining. Pet categories included “Longest Tail”, “Best Costume”, and “Pet That Looks Most Like Owner”. Contestants received judges’ awards for winning their category. Each parade participant received an award for participation in the parade.

We want to thank every pet owner who participated in the parade and pet show. We also want to recognize Bill Sarkella and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for their financial support, the Harbor Beach Police and Fire Department, All Season Sales and Service, and the Maritime Festival Committee and volunteers for their assistance.

We especially want to recognize our Paws & Claws judges:
Patricia Emerick, Marian Schuman, Steve and Debbie Schubring, Dr. Arnold Hentschl, and Pastor David McCloskey for their time and expertise.

Unfortunately, almost half of the participants did not claim their Award for Participation at the end of the parade. If you and your pet did not receive this award, please contact Raymond and Susan Bugg at 479 – 9200.
